The show is held annually on the last Saturday in September.   The exhibition of flowers, fruit, vegetables, baking, preserves, art, photography and handicrafts is held in the Village Hall opening at 3 p.m.
Exhibitors must live within a five mile radius of Willingham by Stow and produce must be grown in the area. We hope that you will continue to support this friendly village tradition and look forward to seeing your entries in the next show.
Willingham by Stow’s 77th Horticultural Show

Well done Willingham!  The Show committee members were thrilled with the number of entries into this year’s Show – we seem to be back to pre-Covid participation levels.  In fact the number of entries this year was only surpassed this century in 2008 and 2015.  The village hall looked very colourful with all the excellent art and textiles work from primary aged pupils and there was a lovely smell of baked items as well as from the fruit and vegetables.

President, Margaret Smith, welcomed all the visitors to the show, held on 30
th September, and thanked the exhibitors, judges and the committee for putting on such a wonderful display of garden produce, baking, art, photography and handicrafts.  She thanked the members of the public for their support by coming to view the exhibits. She then introduced Mrs Gay Hicks to present the trophies.

Gay said that she was honoured to have been asked to open the Show and said that she had barely missed a show since arriving in the village over 40 years ago.  She emphasised the importance of such events in the village’s calendar.  Gay then presented the trophies for the various classes.  The Aggregate Cup for the person with the most overall points at the show was won by Judith Tudberry.  The Children’s Aggregate Cup was won by Henry Bates.

Following the trophy presentations and the raffle, Mick Bates held an excellent auction of produce from the show, money raised goes towards the running of next year’s show.  Boxes of fruit and vegetables were also sold to the public.  The Show committee members are very grateful to the many people who helped make it such a success - the teachers of Sturton School, the Cub and Beaver leaders, and in particular to all the villagers who pulled out all the stops to provide such a good exhibition of their talents.
